About Us

The AHS Choral department consists of 360 students in 11 performing groups.

The staff has grown, also, from one half-time director to three full-time directors Dinah Menger, Laura Pease and Jodi Hill; and voice instructors Pam Wade, Margarita Roco and Natalie Mitchell.

All of the choirs generally perform in three concerts during the year, with many additional appearances by the Colt Chorale and Choraliers all over the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. A musical is produced by the organization every other year. The students in the Arlington High School Choral Program consistently earn chairs in TMEA All-State Choirs and Orchestras and are recipients of First Division ratings at UIL Solo and Ensemble Competitions. Many Arlington High School choir members have the opportunity to involve themselves in other programs including theater, band, orchestra, academic decathlon, athletics, drill team, and many other organizations. This would not be possible without the amazing support and cooperation of the other faculty on campus.

Ms. Menger's choirs have received many honors, including Best in Class and Grand Champions in competitions from New Orleans to New York City. The varsity mixed ensemble, Colt Chorale, was a 2005 performing group at the TMEA Convention in San Antonio and this same choir was one of 32 invited choirs at the American Choral Directors Association convention in Miami, Florida in March of 2007. Her choirs are consistent Sweepstakes winners in UIL contests and have performed in 8 "Home For the Holidays" concert series at Bass Hall with the Fort Worth Symphony.
